FREE Books for Kids - Half Price Books

Okay, and the best for last. Half Price Books gives your kids a $3 shopping card for every week they read at least 15 minutes per day. My kids did this last year and got a lot of books. They read every week during the offer period (June 1-July 31) and when they used them on their SUPER CHEAP gently used books they scored big time. BONUS - last year they allowed me to get a card for the baby and track my reading to her so she could score some new sensory board books too!

Borders - FREE Book for Kids

Okay, so now your kids have read eight books for Barnes & Noble, have them read two more and fill out Borders Double Dog Dare form for their FREE book there. You can download the form, see the books they can chose from and get more details on this FREE book offer HERE.

Barnes and Noble - FREE book for kids

There are several summer reading programs that go on during the summer. First up, Barnes & Noble. Kids just need to either pick up or download and print their reading passport, read eight books this summer, and return the passport to a participating Barnes and Noble for their FREE book. Half Price Books:

When your child reads any eight books this summer and completes their summer reading journal from B&N, they can pick one FREE book from the B&N select list (by grade). Read about that and print your summer reading journal HERE.

Seattle Public Library is also doing a reading program with a free paperback and admission to the Burke Museum upon completion - read that HERE.

While they don't give free books out, the Snohomish Public Library has a summer reading program where you keep a journal, and at some locations attend a end of summer completion party with cake and fun. Go HERE to see your local Sno-Isle Library events.

Okay, so you've already read my post about free movies at Regal Cinemas this summer...well AMC Loews has a $1 movie at 10am every Wednesday through summer. This is a good option if you don't want to see what Regal is playing. Furthermore, all the $1 admissions go to charity.

Read up on that HERE. This kicks off next Wednesday the 17th, but if your kids are like mine and paying for lots of missed school this winter, they will still be in school. =) I haven't found a listing of all the movies that will play this summer, but they are being listed on Fandango.com.

Kids Bowl FREE All Summer Long

At participating bowling centers of course. Check to see if one near you is participating HERE. If not you can email your center the link and suggest they do (like I did).

Family Movies All Summer - for FREE from Regal Cinemas

Every summer Regal Cinemas does their Free Family Film Festival...and you better believe that every summer my children and I take advantage of this.
Starting around the end of school (mid-June) through the end of August Regal theaters show two different movies at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings.
You can go HERE to find your theater and see what's playing.
Both films play both days...can't decide which one to see? See one on Tuesday and the other on Wednesday.

Super duper pros to seeing the movies during the summer:
Ummm, they're free!
Don't have to worry about your little ones interrupting the film (baby friendly!!)
The staff don't seem to mind you bringing in outside food and drink for little ones (keep it free!!)

We typically pack a backpack with some juices and cereal or home popped popcorn and head out. DO be prepared for crowds, so arrive early. Don't worry, they will play plenty of cartoons before the movie to keep you entertained.
